C10_8 was manufactured at the Kawasaki Sharyo Co. and its manufactured number was 1363, on the 1st of July 1930,
and it was first deployed to the Shinkoiwa depot in Tokyo. Afterward, she was active mainly in the Tohoku area. After WW2, she was moved to Aizu-Wakamatsu depot and was active on the Aizu line. She was retired on the 31st of March 1962 and was sold to Rasa Industries Ltd in Miyako, Iwate prefecture, during March 1962 from the Aizu-Wakamatsu depot. After being sold, C10_8 was active for switching operations at the Miyako Rasa yard. C10_8 was retired from Rasa Co. during November 1986, but the company kept the engine in it's own depot. During March of 1987, Miyako city obtained a C10_8 from Rasa Co., and after restoring it, it was used as a steam train. This train was named "Shiokaze (Sea-Wind)". "Shiokaze" saw service from Miyako city between July 1987 and January 1990 on the Miyako sea-side line. After the closing of service, Miyako city looked for the placement of the C10_8 and it was accepted by the Oigawa Railway Co. during 1994. She was moved to Oigawa Railway Co., and started regular service from the 14th of October 1997. |

During the 1960s, the largest eight numbers (No.2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 21 and 22) of C10s were concentrated at the Aizu-Wakamatsu depot. They were active on the Aizu-Kawaguchi line (currently Tadami line) and Aizu-Takinohara line (currently Aizu Railway Co.) with mixed trains. However, the next year of 1961, C10 decreased to only two (No. 4 and 8) engines, and both engines were retired by March of 1962. |
